The Beaglier is a designer breed, bred in England by crossing two breeds: The Beagle and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. This dog became especially popular through crossbreeding programs in Australia during the 1990s. The Beaglier is not recognized by the AKC, as it is considered to be a hybrid breed (designer breed).
Height: 12-16 inches Weight: 10-20 pounds Lifespan: 10-13 years
The Beaglier is small or medium-sized, athletic dog. Beagliers have incredibly expressive eyes, which they have inherited from the Beagle but typically have the shorter muzzle of the Cavalier. Their coat comes in the following color combination’s: Lemon and white, red and white, orange and white, black and tan.
The Beaglier is playful, good natured, gentle and very curious dog. He is affectionate, calm and sociable. The Beaglier tends to get lonely and anxious if left alone for a long time. He enjoys companionship with older children in the family and can easily find a common language with other dogs. Beagliers are excellent watchdogs as they will bark to alert their family to visitors or unusual sounds.
Beagliers have a coat of medium length that is hard and tight to the body but can be slightly wavy and silky. The hair does not require special maintenance. Bathe your dog only if it is really needed. Ears should be checked regularly and kept clean.
The Beaglier is generally healthy dog breed, but like all breeds, they can be prone to Epilepsy, Inflammatory Diseases of the Ears, Heart Disease and Dislocation of the Patella. The Beaglier has a life expectancy of 10 to 13 years.
The male Beaglier dog breed’s height is around 12 – 16 inches and weighs around 10 and 20 pounds. Female Beaglier dogs can reach a size from 12 – 16 inches and weighs between 10 and 20 pounds.
The Beaglier can be quite stubborn. Early socialization and obedience training are important. Harsh or oppressive methods are useless. As a matter of fact, education should be based on firmness, fairness, patience and consistency.
The Beaglier may live in a city apartment, provided that he exercises regularly. Nevertheless, this breed does require a bit of run around space so it is best if you live in a house with a big yard. Beagliers get the great pleasure of walking with the owner on a leash, and they love playing games with the family.
